British MI9 developed an elaborate escape kit hidden inside Monopoly sets sent to POW camps. Real German, Italian, and French currency was hidden beneath the Monopoly money. Maps were printed on silk, and compasses and small tools were disguised as game pieces. Special editions were marked with a tiny red dot on the Free Parking space that only recipients knew to look for.
