The Worcestershire Regiment at Pegasus Bridge

While most histories focus on the glider troops who captured Pegasus Bridge, few know that A Company of the 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (later the Worcestershire Regiment) arrived by sea just after the glider landing to reinforce the position. They held the bridge against repeated counterattacks for hours until relieved, suffering 70% casualties but never yielding ground.
